Downs Junior School, a popular and lively establishment, presently the largest junior school in Brighton and Hove with just over five hundred pupils aged between seven and eleven. We are situated close to Blakers Park in the vibrant Fiveways area of Brighton. The children are organised into sixteen mixed ability classes with four classes per year group. Each year group contains up to one hundred and twenty eight pupils; maximum numbers thirty two per class.
Our late Victorian school, built in the 1890’s, is now a Grade 2 listed property. A great deal of thought has gone into keeping its best features whilst providing up to date, educational facilities for both staff and pupils. All classrooms are provided with the latest whiteboard technology and we are currently nearly through a programme of classroom refurbishment. Disability access is available on different levels, with the present exception of the first floor.

We are very proud of our pupils, with their love for learning coupled with their high level of effort leading to many achievements. This can be seen across all areas of our stimulating curriculum as well as the extensive extra-curricular activities that are currently available.
